Newsletter for the interchange of genealogical data and history of the Mangum (and variant spellings) families who came mainly from England (especially in Lancashire and Linton-in-Craven, Yorkshire), France, Ireland, Normandy, and Scotland. In the 1600s, some immigrated to Maryland and Virginia (especially in the Isle of Wight, and Albemarle Parish in Surry and Sussex Counties). Some were Loyalists, Huguenots, and Protestants. In the 1700s, some settled in Nova Scotia (Canada), and in Georgia, Kentucky, Maryland, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and South Carolina. Some joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, and moved with the Latter-day Saint pioneers into Utah. During the 1800s, some moved to Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Indiana, Iowa, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Ohio, Tennessee, and Texas. Later descendants also lived in Colorado, Delaware, Idaho, Illinois, Kansas, Minnesota, New Mexico, Washington, Washington D.C., Wisconsin, and elsewhere. Some have African American bloodlines. Some records are of servants and slaves. Information was extracted from Bible records, burial records, cemetery records, state and national census records, church records, and court records, deeds, letters, land records, marriage records, military records, mortality schedules, parish registers, ships' records, tax records, and wills. Dates included are from the 1400s through 2004. Description taken from "The Mangum CD.".
A cumulative index is available on "The Mangum CD.".
