"This collection of marriage licence bonds comprises the jurisdictions of the Bishop of Salisbury in Wiltshire and Berkshire and the Dean of Sarum in those counties together with Dorset and Uffculme, Devon. Also included are those of minor jurisdictions within Wiltshire and Berkshire. Marriage by licence was used for couples as an alternative to banns."--container insert.

Includes name of bride and groom, ages, places of abode, marital status, notes, marriage details, occupation, name of bondsmen.
