Notes

John Boyd was born 9 December 1777 in Orange County, North Carolina. His parents were William Boyd and Nancy Smalley. He married Mary Elizabeth Leath, daughter of Ephraim Leath and Nancy Jones, in 1801 in Anderson County, Tennessee. They had fourteen children. He died in 1837 in Jackson County, Tennessee. Descendants and relatives lived mainly in Tennessee, Georgia and Texas.
