James Howard came to Nansemond County, Virginia in 1684. He married Sarah Titus the daughter of Thomas Titus. James and Sarah were the parents of five sons and one daughter. James Howard's son Edward had a granddaughter named Ann Howard who married Charles Mundine, Sr. in Jones County, North Carolina. Ann and Charles are the progenitors of the author, Eugene Davis Kincaid, III. John Chapman Mundine, born Sept. 11, 1804 in Smith County, Tennessee, the son of Charles and Ann, immigrated to the Republic of Texas from Shelby County, Alabama in 1843. Descendants of the James and Sarah Howard family have lived in North Carolina, Tennessee, Kentucky, New Jersey, Texas and elsewhere in the United States.
