Warwick County was incorporated in 1952 as a city. Warwick City became extinct in 1958 when it was consolidated with the independent city of Newport News.
The commissioner of the revenue registered births and deaths for the county and then turned his books over to the clerk of the County Court. The clerk made abstracts to send to the state auditor and would also preserve the books in his office.
The record of deaths (8 entries) is arranged in alphabetical order by first letter of surname. Entries give the date of death, name of the deceased, sex, race, age, residence, occupation, place of death, birthplace, parents' names, parents' residence, disease or cause of death, place of burial, and date of record. Information is not always complete.
The record of births (1 entry for name of Kick or Kirk) gives the date of birth, birthplace, name of the child, sex, race, parents' names, father's occupation, and date of record. The date of record is 1901; however, the birth date is 1876.
