Marquis Calmes, IV was born 26 February 1755 in Frederick County, Virginia. His parents were William Walter Calmes (1727-1773) and Lucy Neville. He married Priscilla Hale 11 February 1782 in Fauquier County, Virginia. They had ten children. Descendants and relatives lived mainly in Virginia and Kentucky.
