Contains muster roll, 1917-1918, which is in alphabetical order by the first letter of the surname. Gives name; address (town and state); age; "color"; selective service (date drafted); volunteers, army, navy and marine corps (date accepted); national guard and naval militia (date mustered and where mustered); rank; branch; and remarks. Information is not always complete.

Includes loose documents (some pages out of order): letter from Charles T. Holtzman, Jr., to the Adjutant General of Virginia, dated 28 Sep. 1919, giving his service information; handwritten note giving the number of registrants; six letters from the Adjutant General to local boards and clerks of the Circuit Courts, dates cover 30 Jan 1919-24 Sep. 1930, giving instructions and supplementary lists; draft registration cards (negative photocopies?), giving name, service number, place and date of enlistment, residence, date and place of discharge, and service informaton; three more letters from the Adjutant General to local boards and clerks of the Circuit Courts, dates cover 31 Mar. 1919-12 Dec. 1929 (some may be carbon copies); list of names with handwritten dates; and alphabetical list of soldiers with name, address, and serial no. (typescript, 48 leaves).
