Gilbert Simpson, born ca. 1699 in Charles County, Maryland. His parents were John Simpson and Elizabeth. He married Elizabeth Williams about 1730, migrated to Virginia prior to 1741, and settled in Fairfax County, Virginia. His son, John Simpson, moved from Fairfax to Loudon County. Descendants have lived principally in Virginia, Kentucky, and Illinois.
