Includes biographical and genealogical sketches of prominent citizens, index to Isle of Wight land patents (1607-1749), index to land patents in Nottoway Parish (1700-1749) (south of the Blackwater River and north of the Nottoway River), index to land patents in St. Luke's Parish (1700-1749) (south of the Nottoway River and north of the Meherrin River) , index to land patents (1700-1749) south of the Blackwater River in that part of Nansemond County added to Southampton in 1786, index to land patents (1700-1749) in that area south of the Meherrin River included in Brunswick County when it was formed from Isle of Wight County and Surry County in 1732 and in Greensville County when formed from Brunswick in 1780, index to deeds from Nottoway Indians to white settlers (1634-1749), quit rents for Isle of Wight and Surry counties 1704, and Southampton County taxpayers 1782.
