Declarations of intention are often called "first papers" wherein a person declares his intention to become a citizen of the U.S. Later records may contain more information.
Each volume is separately indexed. Each record has a volume number assigned by the microfilmer and a volume number in parenthesis (-) which is the volume number found on the book.
Microfilm of original records now located at the State Historical Society of North Dakota in Bismarck.
