You can find a volunteer or hire a genealogist who lives near the library to look up the record on your behalf.

• You can look for other websites where the records may be located. In some cases, the records are restricted on the FamilySearch site because the record holder has the records available online elsewhere.
• You can try going to the FamilySearch Research Wiki and search for the country or state that the records pertain to. There may be an alternative group of records listed.
• Try performing a Google search with the record information to see if they are online on another site.

• For printed books, try going to WorldCat.org and searching for the book title. WorldCat.org is a combined catalog that includes many libraries. You could see if there is a copy of the book at a library near you and visit it to view it. You could also try contacting another library that has the book and asking them to look in the book for you.
• If the book is found in many libraries, it may be possible to obtain a copy of the book through an interlibrary loan. You can contact your local library about interlibrary loan.
• A Google search for the book title and author may help you to locate a digitized copy of the book on another website or a place where the book is available for sale.
