FamilySearch Indexing

Get started with the "Web Indexing" web application! Each time you want to index go to the "Web Indexing" page where you can find a project and index online.

Indexing is the process of entering information from historical records into an online, searchable database.


Web Indexing

To get started, follow these steps:
  1. Go to the Web Indexing page
  2. If you are not already signed in, sign in with your Church or FamilySearch Account.
  3. To find a project that interests you, click Find Batches, and then click Index.

Projects labeled with this icon are only available in the web indexing program.

We encourage new users to get started with the "Web Indexing" program. The desktop application can be downloaded and used, although it will be phased out at a future date.
