How do I view sources attached to my ancestor in Family Tree?

You can view the sources for people, couple relationships, and parent-child relationships in Family Tree. 

Steps (website)

Sources for Individuals

  1. In the top menu, click Family Tree, and then click Tree.
  2. Find the person on the tree.
  3. Click the person's name. In the details that pop-up, click the person's name again. You are taken to that person’s page.
  4. To view the sources on a full tab, Sources tab. To view the sources while remaining on the Details tab, click the Sources link in the Tools box.

Sources for Relationships

  1. In the top menu, click Family Tree, and then click Tree.
  2. Find a person on the tree in the relationship that you want to view.
  3. Click the person's name. In the details that pop-up, click the person's name again. You are taken to that person’s page.
  4. Scroll to the Family Members section.
    • Couple relationship: Click the Edit icon ( ) next the marriage event. Sources are in the Relationship Sources box.
    • Parent-child relationship: Click the Edit icon ( ) next to the child's name. Sources are in the Relationship Sources box.

Steps (mobile app)

Sources of Individuals

  1. Navigate to the Person page.
  2. Tap the Sources tab. 

Sources for Relationships

The Family Tree mobile app currently does not list sources for specific relationships. Scan through the sources listed for individual records, or visit FamilySearch.org for this feature.

Steps (Family Tree Lite)

Currently, Family Tree Lite does not include the Sources feature.
