Charles Gordon was born 10 March 1810 in Morgan County, Georgia. His parents were Ephraim Gordon and Anne Brown. His family moved to Walton County, Florida when he was young. He married Rebecca Mott, daughter of Lovelace Mott and Sarah Nancy Savage, 1 June 1834 in Sumter County, Alabama. They had ten children. In 1860 they were living in Lauderdale County, Mississippi. After the Civil War, they moved to Grand Chenier, Louisiana. Charles died in Brownwood, Texas in 1902. Descendants and relatives lived mainly in Louisiana and Texas.

Includes Suttles, Carpenter, Stafford, Slaughter, McCall, Brown, Harper and related families.
