History of Thomas Ralph, who immigrated from England to America c. 1761. He and his wife Nancy [Lawrence] lived in Virginia. She died shortly after the birth of their third son, John (1787-1856) in Franklin County, Virginia. Their first two sons, William (1779-1862) and Thomas Jr. (ca. 1780-1835) were born in the same area before Franklin was made from Bedford and Henry Counties in 1785. In the early 1800's, the three sons married and moved from Virginia. Thomas Jr. settled in Tennessee; while John and William established families in Kentucky, mainly in Henry and Ohio Counties. During the 1800's, some also moved into Indiana, Iowa, Ohio, and Texas. One descendant, Thomas Peyton Ralph (1854-1949) met Gertrude Mabel Smith (1877-1967) of Iowa, and married her in 1903 at Princeton, Missouri. Later descendants and allied families to Thomas, the immigrant, lived in Japan, Germany, in Alabama, Arizona, California, Colorado, Illinois, Missouri, Nevada, New York, Pennsylvania, Wyoming, Washington D.C., and elsewhere in the United States.
