Notes

The first known Ray ancestor, Hezekiah MacRay, was of Scotland. He had two sons, Zachariah (1760-1842) born in Virginia and Daniel Ray. Zachariah Ray is found in Surrey Co., N. Carolina in 1782. By 1790 he has moved to Kentucky where he settled. He had ten children born in Virginia, North Carolina and Kentucky. The Anderson family of Fauquier Co., Virginia and Garrard Co., Ky. Cornelius Anderson was born ca. 1770 in Fauquier Co., Va. He married in 1790 Katy Riddle of Fauquier County. He and his family came to Garrard Co., Ky. in 1796. Descendants live in Kentucky, Indiana, Virginia and elsewhere.
