Civil registration of births, marriages, deaths.
En 1893, la circunscripción de San Miguel pasó a ser un municipio con las sub-delegaciones de Santa Rosa y Subercaseux, que fueran sacadas de la municipalidad de Ñuñoa. En 1970 se establece una nueva divisón político-administrativa y la municipalidad pasa a ser una comuna, la cual actualmente está formada por siete (7) distritos censales y pertenece a la provincia de Santiago en la Región Metropolitana de Chile.
