Martin Miller (1758-1838) was born in Heidelberg, Germany. He emigrated from there with his parents ca. 1765. They settled on the Huro River in Alamance Co. (Orange Co.), North Carolina. Martin lived there until he came to Claiborne Co., ca. 1800. He married (1) Sallie Ritchie (d. before 1798); (2) Elizabeth Giddens (1780-1860) in 1798. Elizabeth was born in Wilkes Co., N.C., the daughter of Edward Giddens. Martin and Elizabeth moved to Union Co., Tenn. ca. 1801. Descendants live in Alabama, Tennessee, Georgia and elsewhere.
