Samuel Hoskins (1880-1959) was born in Cole County, Missouri and lived in Oklahoma for awhile. He married Carrie Belle Clay (1880-1958) who was born in Boone County, Missouri. Hoskins ancestry is traced to Thomas Hoskins (1774-1841) of Virginia and Cole County, Missouri. Other ancestors include Henry Smith (1804-1861) and his wife, Elizabeth McCart who came to Cole County by 1840 from Kentucky. Also includes Shumate family of France, Virginia, Tennessee, and Missouri. Clay ancestry is traced to Capt. John Clay who was living in Charles City, Virginia in 1624. Also includes Fowlers of Arkansas, Missouri, and Virginia.
Other ancestral families include Trabue, Johnston, Bomer, Martin, and Musicks.
