Family history of James Lafayette Averett (1863-1943), son of Elisha Averett and Sarah Jane Witt, who was born in Washington, Washington, Utah, and died in Lovell, Big Horn, Wyoming. He married Laura Anis Maxwell (1876-1960), daughter of James Bailey Maxwell and Clarissa DeGraw, 1894 in Glendale, Kane Co., Utah. She was born in Panquitch, Garfield Co., Utah. They had eight children. The immigrant ancestor, Christopher Aaron Averitt, was born 1590 in Cornwall, England and died in Warwick Co., Virginia. He had come to Virginia in 1630. Descendants live in Utah, Idaho, Nevada, Wyoming, Illinois, Connecticut and elsewhere.
