This book considers the ancestry of three immigrant families. Peter Weaver is thought to be Hans Dieterich Weber who was born in 1710 to Philipp Joseph and Susanna (Klaar) Weber in Gemmingen, Germany. Parents and son with his siblings immigrated to Virginia in 1717. Johann Georg Utz was born to Michael and Margaretha (Probst) Utz in 1693 in Seiderzell, Germany. He married in 1714 to Anna Barbara Majer, widow of Johann Michael Volck. In 1717 Georg (George) Utz immigrated to Virginia with his wife, two daughters of her previous marriage, and one son. The children of Johann Michael Volck were also known as Folg. He was born in 1663 in Wagenbach, Baden, Germany to Michael and Margaretha (Albert) Volck and died in 1714.

The Germanna colony was located in Spotsylvania County but may also have been in part of Orange County, Virginia.

Includes information about the Second Germanna Colony of Virginia and lists of its colonists.
