"The volume is of great local interest and has among other items a return of men, women and children in the British regiments victualled in New York, in the civil department and in foreign regiments, with muster roll of assistants, overseers, coopers, laborers, artificers in various departments and where employed and covers Brooklyn and this city; also list of vessels giving names of masters and a comparative view of the expenses in different departments of the Army from December 17, 1775 to December 5, 1781, under Sir William Howe and Sir Henry Clinton."--Pref.
