This parish was formed in 1730 from St. George's Parish in Spotsylvania County. When that part of Spotsylvania was taken to form Orange County in 1734, St. Mark's Parish went to Orange County. In 1749 Culpeper County was formed from Orange County and the parish went to that county.

Includes transcription of three loose pages of Bromfield Parish records which were found at the back of St. Mark's Parish vestry book.

Contains records about the organization of the parish, elections of church officers, hiring of ministers, payments of fees and wages, upkeep of the "gleeb" house and church, care of the poor and orphans, and the raising of levies from the parish tithables.

Includes bibliographical references and index.
