John Westmoreland married Ann Lenoir, and moved from Prince George County, Virginia to Spartanburg County, South Carolina in the 1760s. Joseph Westmoreland married Martha Shores (ca.1748-1838) and moved from Virginia to Fayette County, Georgia. Descendants of these two Westmorelands lived in Virginia, South Carolina, Georgia, Arkansas, California and elsewhere. Includes genealogical discussion about other Westmoreland individuals and families in early colonial America, and about their possible lineage in England.

Includes Foster, Gilbert, Griffith, Lenoir and related families.
