James Ewell Brown Stuart was born 6 February 1833 in Laurel Hill, Patrick County, Virginia. His parents were Archibald Stuart and Elizabeth Letcher Pannill. He married Flora Cooke, daughter of Philip Cooke and Rachel Hertzog, in about 1856. They had three children. He died 12 May 1864 in Richmond, Virginia. He was a Major General in the Confederate Army in the Civil War. Ancestors, descendants and relatives lived mainly in Virginia. Includes Arthur, Carter, Ficklen, Hairston, Letcher and related families.
