How do I share information on Family Tree?

Family Tree allows family members to work together to build a family tree. Register for a free FamilySearch account, and create a tree. Invite others to do the same. Information in Family Tree about living people is private. You cannot share living portions of your tree. Invite others to add their living generations and begin to link to their deceased generations. As they add deceased family members to the tree, information you added about shared ancestors becomes visible.

Share information about deceased ancestors

  • Copy and share the Family Tree ID of the ancestor.
  • Send a link to the Family Tree page for a shared ancestor.
  • Send a link to a memory item.

Caution

Do not share your username and password with anyone. Doing so is a violation of the Terms of Use and compromises your legal privacy rights. Please review the obligations associated with using FamilySearch.org.
