You can merge duplicate records of living or confidential people that you added to Family Tree. The process is almost the same as merging other duplicates. Before you begin, here is what you should be aware of:
- You cannot merge a living or confidential person that you added with a living or confidential person that another user added.
- You cannot merge the record of a living person with a record of a deceased person. If a living person that you added has died, add the death information to the record. Then merge duplicates.
- You cannot merge the record of a confidential person that you added with a confidential person that is available in the public tree.
- Duplicates of living and confidential people do not typically show up when searching for duplicates in Family Tree. Use the Merge By ID option in the Tools section of the person page.
