How do I show or hide ordinance data in Family Tree?

Share

You can:

  • Show or hide ordinance data in Family Tree by toggling on or off the Show Temple Options feature on the website and mobile app separately.
  • See that both tabs will appear or disappear when the toggle is changed.

    Steps (website)

  1. Sign in to FamilySearch.org
  2. In the top-right portion of the screen, click your name.
  3. Click Settings.
  4. Click Account.
  5. Click the toggle button next to Show Temple Options near the bottom of the screen.
  6. To turn the feature back on, repeat the process.

Note: If you do not see the ordinances, please go to Settings or Account, and then under Family Tree Preferences, toggle on the Show Temple Options.

Steps (mobile app)

  1. Sign in to the Family Tree mobile app, and do the following:
    • Android: In the top-left corner, tap the 3 lines.
    • Apple iOS: In the bottom-right corner, tap the 3 lines.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. In the App section, tap Show Temple Ordinances to toggle this feature on or off.

Note: Once this feature is turned off, the Temple icon and label disappear from the app menu. To make the icon and label reappear, you must return to settings and turn the feature on again.

Results

After you turn off this option, you see these changes:

  • The Ordinance tab is missing from a Person page.
  • The Ancestors with Tasks displays only ancestors with record hints and not ancestors who need ordinances.
  • Ordinances do not show when you generate printable pedigrees and family group records.
  • The temple tab in the main menu disappears.

The Temple button at the bottom of the screen still displays. To hide it, exit the app, and restart it.

Steps (Family Tree Lite)

You cannot turn off the temple functionality and data on Family Tree Lite.
