How do I change the settings in the Family Tree mobile app?

  1. Use the Family Tree app settings to control features and preferences. When you make changes, be sure to tap Save.

    Steps (Android)

    1. In the Android Family Tree mobile app, tap the 3 lines in the top-left.
    2. Tap Settings.
      • Tap App, and select the options for customizing the look of your app.
        • Save photos to gallery: Activate to save a copy of any new photo to your memories gallery on the device.
        • Expand Tasks: Include on the Tasks list tasks for people you have recently viewed, their parents, spouses, and children.
        • Theme: Choose light, dark, or set by battery saver.
        • Show Discovery Notifications: Get notified when a new memory is added to someone in your tree.
        • Enable Multiple Screens: Toggle the ability to have multiple windows open in the Family Tree app.
      • Tap Account. To the right of each heading, click Edit.
        1. Names: To the right of First and Last Name box, click the toggle. When the toggle shows as blue, your name is public on FamilySearch.
        2. Personal Information: Use the toggle options. When the toggle shows as blue, the field is public. At the bottom of the Personal Information section, find a link to Change Password.
        3. Helper: You can change your helper number.
      • Tap Profile. You see your profile name and contact ID—both are always public. Click Edit. You can add or change a portrait, modify your name and contact ID and use the toggle to set your location as public or private.
      • Tap Subscriptions and use the toggle buttons to choose what notifications you receive.
      • Tap Notifications. You can tap each category and customize notifications.
      • Tap Advanced if you want to download your pedigree or clear cache.
    3. Steps (Apple iOS)

      1. In the Apple iOS Family Tree mobile app, tap the 3 lines in the bottom-right.
      2. Tap Settings.
      3. In the App section, use the toggle buttons to select options.
        • Enable Multiple Screens: Choose whether you want to have multiple windows open in the app.
        • Offline Pedigree: Click Download Pedigree to download a 6-generation pedigree chart to your app. You can then view the pedigree when offline.
      4. Tap Account. Use the toggle buttons to decide if your full name and birthdate are public. Edit allows you to change your information. At the bottom, you see an option to delete your account.
      5. Tap Profile and specify what contact information other Family Tree users can see about you. You can also add or change your portrait and edit your information.
      6. Tap Subscriptions and choose what notifications you receive.
      7. Tap Permissions. Use the toggles to enable relationship viewing. You can decide whether to include your profile information in Directory Searches.
