Meet the RootsTech 2024 Main Stage Keynote Speakers

In the bustle of the Salt Palace in Salt Lake City, Utah, there will be new things to find around every corner at RootsTech 2024, especially on the main stage. The main stage at RootsTech is where the inspiration happens—keynote speakers from all walks of life address the audience, in person and online around the world. This year, each keynote was hand-selected with a specific purpose: to help us “Remember,” which is the theme for this year’s RootsTech conference.

The main stage is also a place for cultural-themed celebrations and entertainment, as well as a place where industry experts share their latest and greatest ideas and innovations. Both in-person and online attendees to RootsTech 2024 will be able to tune in for these elements of the conference, along with all of our keynote sessions that will offer inspiring family stories.

Thursday, February 29, 11 AM MST

Henry Cho’s story is one of a kind. “I’m an Asian with a Southern accent,” remarks Cho. “To a lot of people, that right there is funny.” So funny, he’s currently working on the development of a sitcom based on his life.

Known as “Mr. Clean” within the stand-up comedic industry, Cho has gained a reputation to make audiences roll with laughter without compromising his desire to only use wholesome comedy. Cho's unique identity as an "Asian with a Southern accent" has become a trademark of his comedic style. His ability to draw humor from his cultural background, upbringing, and life experiences has endeared him to audiences across the country.
Steve Rockwood is the president and CEO of FamilySearch International. Prior to joining FamilySearch, Rockwood specialized in creating unique service offerings for worldwide customers of such brands as MasterCard International, AT&T, Disney, Office Depot, and Citibank among others. He also started 2 companies that were later acquired by larger companies.

Most recently, Steve served as director of the international division at FamilySearch. He will share a message of connection and remembrance in line with the RootsTech 2024 theme.

Friday, March 1, 11 AM MST

Lynne M. Jackson, founder of the Dred Scott Heritage Foundation, will tell the inspiring story of her ancestors, Dred and Harriet Scott. Lynne's primary motive is to share and continue the legacy of Dred Scott and his important role in changing the landscape of the United States by his 11-year legal battle for freedom.

Her expertise is blending the personal and legal cases together and portraying a composite picture of what the Scott family’s struggle really meant.
Nancy Borowick is a world-renowned photographer, author, teacher, and speaker. She delivers over 50 speaking engagements each year around the world, bringing her personal story to universities, hospitals, oncology units and community groups.

Over the last decade, Nancy has narrowed the focus of her work, telling stories of health, struggle, and personal relationships, using compassion, humility, and trust as tools to connect with and explore the lives of her subjects.

Saturday, March 2, 11 AM MST

Virtual Keynote

Emmy® and Tony® Award winning actress and singer Kristin Chenoweth will share her keynote address on the final day of RootsTech 2024. Along with sharing her story of adoption and her passion for aiding children in finding loving, adoptive families, Kristin will be performing a curated selection of songs as part of her keynote.

This is truly a once-in-a-lifetime chance to not only see a world-famous singer and actress perform, but also to glimpse an integral part of her family story.
Joining RootsTech 2024 as a virtual keynote speaker, Katie James was born in Ireland and raised in Colombia. With this unique upbringing, she not only has a distinct sound to her music but a distinct story to share.

Since she was a child, she began to study music and stands out as a singer-songwriter bringing together in her songs different sounds of Colombian and Latin American folklore. Her keynote will be delivered in Spanish (with subtitles in English and Portuguese) and will be available online from the start of the conference.

Meet the Global Emcees

After the positive experiences of RootsTech attendees around the world last year, RootsTech 2024 will once again offer localized main stage sessions. There will be 10 emcees from all over the world who will be speaking in their native language to direct attendees through the conference on the main stage. These emcees will be speaking to you live from the Salt Palace in Salt Lake City, Utah! Tune in to RootsTech in your language to hear what is happening live at the event.
