Join us for in-person and Zoom classes at the Mesa FamilySearch Center.

We offer daily classes on a variety of family history topics. Classes are held upstairs at the Visitors' Center. No registration is required. Walk-ins are welcome. All classes are free to the public. Call the Visitors' Center at (480) 964-7164 for questions.

Training for Temple & Family History Consultants and Leaders
This class is designed to help Temple and Family History leaders and consultants understand their roles as outlined in the Church Handbook. It covers their responsibilities, how to effectively counsel with their councils and provide practical ideas in creating and implementing the Ward plan with many more ideas and resources to help you in your calling

Equipment at the Family Search Center

FastFoto Scanners
- Requires a USB thumb drive (3.0 or higher recommended).
- Sort pictures according to size, landscape or portrait.
- Scanning takes 1 to 2 seconds per picture.

35MM Slide Snap
- Requires a USB thumb drive (3.0 or higher recommended).
- Carousels are loaded with sky up and shiny side forward.
- Carousels are available at FamilySearch for your use.
- 1 to 2 seconds per slide thru the ADF

Flatbed Scanners and Book Reader
- Requires a USB thumb drive (3.0 or higher recommended).

Negative Scanner
- Requires a USB thumb drive (3.0 or higher recommended).

VHS, Camcorders, Audio cassettes
- Requires a USB thumb drive (3.0 or higher recommended).
- If the video/audio cassette is a 60 minute video, it will take
- 60 minutes to digitize. Records in real-time.

DVD, CD, 3 ½” Floppy, (5 ¼” Floppy - drop off only)
- Requires a USB thumb drive (3.0 or higher recommended).

8MM /Super 8MM
- Requires a USB thumb drive (3.0 or higher recommended).
- A film that takes 4 ½ min to watch takes 35-40 min. to digitize

Audio Reel to Reel
- Requires a USB thumb drive (3.0 or higher recommended).
- Records in real-time. Plug-in Headphones recommended.

Vinyl Records 33.3, 45, & 78 speeds
- Requires a USB thumb drive (3.0 or higher recommended).
- Records in real-time.

No reservations are required to attend classes.

Check the schedule the morning of the class to make sure there has not been a cancelation.

You are welcome to bring your own computer but all 18 seats in the classrooms are equipped with a computer.

Yes, everyone in the community is welcome.
