I cannot print a family name card from my family names list

Share

Not being able to print one of your temple reservations can be frustrating. Here are the most common reasons you are not be able to print:

  • The ordinance you want to print has already been completed.
  • The ordinance you want to print was shared with the temple.
  • The reservation is on hold while an ordinance that comes before it is completed. Please complete temple ordinances in the correct order.
  • You did not click the check box to print the card.
  • Another patron merged duplicate records, and the ordinances are either complete or connected to an earlier reservation.
  • You have a pop-up blocker for this website. Disable it.
  • Your printer or browser is not functioning correctly.
  • If you are at a FamilySearch center, ensure you are on a computer running Windows 10.

Steps

  1. Look carefully at the ordinance status in the third column on your reservation list. Make sure that the ordinance is available to print:
    1. Make sure that the ordinances are not already completed. If they are, unreserve the ordinances to remove the person from your family names list.
    2. See if one of the ordinances that comes before it must be completed.
    3. If you shared the ordinances with the temple, you can unshare them if the temple has not already printed them.
      Notes:
      1. Individuals can reserve ordinances that are shared with the temple for 120 days.
      2. The ordinances are unavailable on your reservation list for 120 days.
    4. Click the name of the ancestor, and look at the ordinances. See if another member reserved them. Rarely, another member reserves the ordinance that you reserved. For example, 2 records or person pages exist on FamilySearch for the same person. Someone could merge these records together. If both records had reservations attached to them, the ordinance would go to whoever made the reservation first.
  2. If the ordinance is available to print, try printing again. Make sure to click all of the check boxes correctly.
  3. If reprinting does not work, the problem could be your printer. Try the following:
    • Print the cards from a different internet browser. Google Chrome has proven reliable in the past.
    • Clear cache, cookies, and temporary files. Then try printing again.
  4. Try these possible solutions if the ordinances do not show:
    1. Merge any duplicates.
    2. Reserve the ordinances again.
    3. Try printing the cards again.

Note: The most common browser issues that prevent family name cards from being printed are pop-up blockers or add-on applications.
