Probate records, 1823-1919; indexes

The Justice of the Peace has signed some of the records. The wills and administrations were written in the will books by the Register of Wills.

Some material with earlier dates is included with the currently dated material. The date for the beginning of the earlier material is given in brackets as the first part of the date span.

The library does not have many of the dockets listed in the Proceedings Index. Please contact the county offices for those dockets.

Each volume of the Orphans' Court dockets includes an index. Vol. B also has an index at the end of the volume.

There are two ways to use the indexes: 1) Use the Estate Index or Register's and Orphans' Court Index to find entries in the Proceedings Index or General Index to Orphans Court, or, 2) Skip the Estate Index and refer directly to the Proceedings Index using the alphabetical letters for surnames next to the volume numbers. Each volume of the Proceedings Index has an index at the front of the volume.
