Compiled service records of volunteer soldiers who served during the Mexican War in organizations from the State of Texas

These "compiled service records consist of a jacket-envelope for each soldier, labeled with his name, his rank, and the unit in which he served. The jacket-envelope typically contains (1) card abstracts of entries relating to the soldier as found in original muster rolls, returns, and occasionally pay vouchers; and (2) the originals of any papers relating solely to the particular soldier. There are cross reference jacket-envelopes for soldiers' names that appear in the records under more than one spelling."--Introd.

The library has an alphabetical card index reproduced on microfilm to the compiled service records of volunteer soldiers who served during the Mexican War. Each index card gives the name of a soldier, his rank, and the unit or units in which he served. There are cross-references for names that appear in the records under more than one spelling.
