Newsletter for the interchange of genealogical data and history of the McKay (and variant spellings) families who came mainly from Ireland and Scotland. Some allied families came from France. Some immigrated to Nova Scotia (Canada) and the United States in the 1600-1700s. Some were Baptists, Presbyterians, Protestant Episcopal, and Quakers. Some settled in Delaware, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Virginia. Focus is on (but not limited to) descendants of Robert McKay, Sr., who settled in Freehold, Monmouth County, New Jersey, and moved his family to Frederick (later known as Warren) County, Virginia in 1732. His family remained mainly in the Shenandoah Valley for many generations. His son, Robert Jr., built an historic home in the village of Cedarville, Warren County, Virginia. Related families of Antrim, Buck, Collett, Davis, Hollingsworth, Job, Kerfoot, Heflybower, Sowers, Steer, Varman, and others are also featured. Later descendants also lived in Prince Edward Island (Canada), and in Arizona, Arkansas, California, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, Oregon, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Washington, Washington D.C., West Virginia, and elsewhere. Some may have American Indian bloodlines.
