The New Library Catalog

Yes, the new FamilySearch catalog is continually updated with new items arriving to the Library shelves.

There are four main ways to search the FamilySearch Library Catalog:

Browsing categories:

On the homepage of the FamilySearch Library Catalog, you can find lists of books curated to guide your research.

The New Books list is updated continuously and includes all items added to the Library’s collections in the last two months.

"More Like This" section:

For each result, you will find a "More Like This" section with suggestions of similar items.

Personal lists of titles and view/save your Catalog searches:

Once you’ve signed in using your FamilySearch account, you can create lists of titles by using the “Add to list” button found by each result. Your personal lists can be found under your Account page.

View and save your Catalog searches for future reference under "Your Searches" on your Account page. Recent searches will only display results for the last 24 hours, but if you have saved a search under "Searches," it will be available indefinitely.

Some items not found at the Library may be viewed at the FamilySearch Library by visiting Guest Services located on the Main Floor. Keep in mind that items are still subject to permissions and availability.

Storage Books: Books listed with the availability of "Storage" can be requested at the FamilySearch Library in Guest Services on the Main Floor.

Microfilm/Microfiche: Films/fiche not available online or at the Library may (depending on the contract in place for that film/fiche) be viewed by going to Guest Services.

You will need to sign into your FamilySearch account in order to create reading lists and save book searches.
