Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, City Death Certificates, 1803-1915

This collection has several types of records: 1) Death certificate 2) Death register 3) Return of Death with a hospital certificate, physician’s certificate, and an undertaker’s certificate, and 4) Transit Permit with the permit to move a body and an undertaker’s certificate concerning the move. The records give the name of the deceased plus the date and place of death and/or burial. The records may also give the date and place of birth, names of parents and spouse, cause of death, and other information.
