Newsletter for the interchange of genealogical data and history of the Meriwether (and variant spellings) families who came mainly from England and Wales. Some settled in Maryland, North Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia in the 1600-1700s. Focus is on the descendants of Nicholas Meriwether I (ca. 1631-1678), an early settler of James City and Surry Counties, in the Virginia Colony. During the 1800s, some Meriwethers moved to Alabama, Arkansas, the Dakota Territory, Georgia, Kentucky, Indiana, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, New Mexico Territory, New York, and Ohio. Later descendants also lived in Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Kansas, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, South Dakota, Texas, Washington, Washington D.C., West Virginia, Wisconsin, and elsewhere. Some of their allied families had Yanton or Teton Sioux Indian bloodlines.
