"This book is to help you interpret citations and help you locate the original sources of information for names indexed in The American Genealogical-Biographical Index. It reproduces the titles found in the 'Key Title Index' and supplement found in volumes 54 and 70, and it corrects some bibliographic errors.".

"All of the entries found in the first series are included in the second series. Use the first series only for that portion of the alphabet not yet included in the second series. Citations in the 'Index' consist of an abbreviated title and a page number. In this book abbreviated titles appear to the left followed by expanded bibliographic citations. Call numbers for sources at the Family History Library are found in parentheses following each entry.".
