Originally the parish vestry dealt with land processioning, care of the poor, apprenticeships and guardianships of orphans, levying of taxes, and other civil matters. Around 1785 the counties set up civil agencies to take over many of these functions.
Land processioning was required to be done about every fourth year. The land owner or owners would ride or walk their property boundaries with the county surveyor who would redraw any disputed lines. The land description and who was present at the processioning were usually recorded with the vestry and later the County Court. Sometimes thhe vestry or the County Court would have to settle any disputes.
Contains processioning records, 1739-1779, and meeting minutes, 1819-1876. Minutes contains names of church officers, parish finances and rules.
