George Abbot immigrated from Yorkshire, England, and settled at Andover, Massachusetts, ca. 1640. He married Hannah Chandler in 1647. They had thirteen children, 1648-1673. He died in 1681 at age 66. Record follows line of descent to John Abbot. He was born in 1781 at Wellington, Connecticut, the son of Abiel Abbot (b. 1754). He married Lydia Boynton in 1806. They had eleven children, 1807-1828. The family immigrated to Hatley, Quebec, Canada, ca. 1809. Descendants listed lived in Quebec, Minnesota, Nebraska, California, Illinois, Oregon and elsewhere. Most descendants spelled their surname Abbott.
