What are the image restrictions in Historical Records?

On FamilySearch, some images have restrictions or limitations that determine who can see them or where you can see them. Guests without the necessary permissions see a restricted icon and a message such as “Unable to Display Image Group.” Guests can view some images at a third-party company site, sometimes for a fee. In some cases, you can gain access by visiting a FamilySearch center or an affiliate library.

Here is a list of the possible restrictions that you can see as you use historical records.

The message usually appears when permissions for record collections changed and not all portions of FamilySearch are up to date yet. Check back from time to time to see if the images are available.
