How do I edit or delete person tags in Memories?

In Family Tree, if a memory item is tagged to the wrong person, you can detach or delete the tag.

Summary

• If you uploaded the memory, Delete Tag is available.
• If someone else uploaded the memory, Detach from Family Tree is available.
• You cannot resize, reposition, and rename tags unless you created the tag.

If you attempt to edit a tag and do not see the options for editing and deleting it, consider the following:

• You did not create the tag.
• You are signed in as a helper, and the person you are helping did not create the tag. Sign out as helper.
• You created the tag while signed in to help someone else. To edit the tag, you must either have the person you were helping do it or sign in to help that person again.
  

Steps (website)

1. On FamilySearch.org, sign in and click Memories.
2. In the drop-down menu, click Gallery.
3. Click the photo or document that has the tag you want to edit or delete.
4. In the Tagged People box on the right, click the down arrow next to the person tagged to see these options:
   
   1. Select and show the tag:
      
      1. Click Eye Icon.

   2. Move the size or placement of the tag you created:

      1. Click Move Icon.
      2. To make the tag larger or smaller, click the green circle, and drag it to the correct size.
      3. To reposition the tag, click in the tag, and drag it to the desired position.
   3. Delete if the tag you created is linked to a wrong person:
      
      1. Click Trash Can Icon.
      2. Click Delete.
   4. Detach if another user created the tag and linked to the wrong person:
      
      1. Click Paperclip Icon.
      2. Enter a reason statement.
      3. Click Detach.
   5. If the name on the tag is incorrect, delete the name tag and create a new one.

Steps (Family Tree or Memories mobile app)

Using the Family Tree mobile app, you can delete, detach, reposition, resize, and rename tags.

1. In the Family Tree mobile app, display the person page of a person who is tagged in the memory, then tap Memories. In the Memories app, begin with step 2.
2. Tap the photo or document that has the tag you want to edit or delete.
3. If icons do not show, tap the photo again.
4. Tap the icon that looks like a silhouette with "+" or a number. On Android, look in the top-right. On an Apple iOS device, look in the bottom-right.
5. The tags appear.
6. To resize the tag, tap in the tag and then drag the green dot. 
7. To reposition the tag, tap in the tag and drag it to the desired position.
8. Detach the tag:
   
   1. Tap the tag. A small X appears.
   2. Tap the X.
   3. A message asks if you are sure. Tap Delete.
9. Add a tag after you detach one:
   
   1. Tap the location for the tag.
   2. Tap Add Name.
   3. Find and tap the name in the list.
10. When you finish, tap Done.

Steps (Family Tree Lite)

Family Tree Lite does not allow you to upload, view, or tag memories.
