When searching the FamilySearch Catalog, you can use the Availability options to refine search results and focus on items that are online or in a FamilySearch library or center.
Steps (website)
- At the top of the page, click Search and then select Catalog.
- Enter your search terms.
- Just above the Search button, locate the Availability section. By default, the filter is set to Any, which shows all items matching your search terms, including microfiche, digitized content, restricted digitized content, books, and CDs.
- To narrow your results, select one of the following options:
- Online: Limits results to digitized materials available online. Note that some digitized content is viewable only in FamilySearch centers and not at home.
- FamilySearch Center: Limits results to materials housed at specific FamilySearch centers or libraries.
- If you select FamilySearch Center, a search box appears.
- Start typing the name of a FamilySearch center or library. An alphabetical list of matching locations appears.
- Select the center or library that you want.
Important: Search results for FamilySearch centers may not always reflect current availability. Contact the center directly to confirm that they still have the materials you need before visiting.
