In Family Tree, you can attach three types of sources to people and relationships: historical records, user-typed citations, and memory sources. Source icons help you tell them apart in your source box and in a list of sources in Family Tree.
Icon | Type of source | Description |
Historical record from FamilySearch | You can attach the historical records you find on FamilySearch.org to people in Family Tree. When you attach a historical record, FamilySearch adds the citation automatically. It also maintains the links that connect your ancestor in Family Tree to the historical records about him or her.
User-created source outside of FamilySearch | Users can type in the citation for sources that are not found on FamilySearch.org.
Memory source | Users can use photos, stories, documents, and audio files as sources in Family Tree. |
