By default, all photos, documents, stories, and audio files you add to FamilySearch are publicly viewable. You can make items viewable only by you.
To make a memory private, follow these steps.
Steps (Website)
- Go to the Memories Gallery and click a memory you added that you want to make private.
- On the individual memory page, find the Information panel on the right.
- In the Visibility section, click Public.
- In the list that appears, click Private.
- Read the message and click Make Private.
- To make the item public again, use the same steps, and click Public and then Make Public.
Keep in mind that any links to a private memory that you shared with others no longer work.
Steps (Mobile Memories or Family Tree app)
- Tap a memory item.
- In the top corner of the screen, tap the three dots.
- Tap Details.
- Under Visibility, tap to make the memory private.
- Tap Save.
Steps (Family Tree Lite)
Memories are not available in Family Tree Lite.
