Does the contributed International Genealogical Index (IGI) contain source or submitter information?

Members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints contributed names in the International Genealogical Index. Most have no source information. Check the record citation found on the right side of the page beneath the record information.

  • Some citations indicate “no source information is available.”
  • Some citations indicate a batch number beginning with a numeral and cite a FamilySearch Library microfilm. Paper submissions from about 1969 to about 1994 were microfilmed and can be viewed at the FamilySearch Library in Salt Lake City. Some indicate an original source.
  • Some citations indicate a batch number beginning with a letter and cite a FamilySearch Library microfilm. None of these microfilms contain additional source information and some are closed to the public.
