The invite links for family groups do not expire. Group administrators can delete them when they should no longer be used.
This may be helpful, in the following circumstances:
- Everyone who should be in the group has joined.
- An invite link was sent to a bigger group of people than you intended. You can then create a new invite link and send it to any remaining people who should be in the group.
Having an invite link be widely distributed is not necessarily a problem, because each person who uses it must also be approved as the final step. But if denying requests is becoming a hassle, you can delete the link.
Steps (website)
- On FamilySearch.org, click your name.
- Select Family Groups.
- Click View Group.
- Click Group Members.
- Find the link to be deleted, and click the button shaped like a garbage can.
- Click Delete Invitation.
Steps (mobile app)
- In the Family Tree mobile app, tap the 3 lines icon to open the Family Groups feature:
- Apple iOS—lower right
- Android—upper left
- Tap Family Groups.
- Find a group for which you are administrator and tap View Group.
- Under Invites, find the link to be deleted, and tap the button shaped like a garbage can.
- Tap OK.
