Every FamilySearch user can join up to 10 family groups. To join a family group, you must receive an invitation from a group administrator.
This invitation could come in a variety of ways, such as an email. You could also receive an invitation through text message, or another messaging system that both you and the group administrator use.
Steps (website)
- Find and open the invitation. If it was sent by email, be sure to check your spam folder.
- Click the link in the invitation.
- Sign in to FamilySearch.
- To agree to the terms, click the check box.
- Click Yes, Join. Your invitation to join is in a pending state. A group administrator needs to finish it by approving your request.
- When the approval is granted, the system will try to match your user profile to a person in the family group tree.
- If it finds a profile, you can indicate whether it is you.
- If it does not find a profile, you will be given the opportunity to contact the administrator for help. When the administrator says that you are in the tree, click Starting Person, and then select yourself from the list.
Steps (mobile app)
