Memories, FamilySearch's hub for sharing images, audio recordings, and stories about your loved ones, has a new look. Keep reading to learn more about the new memory viewer now available in FamilySearch, or experience the new version for yourself.

About the Updates

The former version of the memory viewer was built years ago using technology that is now considered old. This release of the memory viewer was mostly about updating the underlying technology. We have many exciting features planned and the updated technology enables FamilySearch to speed up the development of these new features.

In addition to modernizing the underlying technology, users will notice the following enhancements in this release:

Bigger Area for Viewing Memories

Photos, documents, and stories now have a larger display area so you can see more of the memory.

More Consistent Look

The look and feel of the new memory viewer are now more consistent with the rest of FamilySearch, improving ease of use and accessibility.

Tagging Mode (for mobile users)

On mobile devices, we added Tagging Mode to prevent accidental tagging when scrolling or swiping. When viewing a memory, tap the person icon to turn on tagging mode, which enables you to tap on a person in the image to add a tag that can help others identify who it is. When you're finished, tap Done to return to the normal viewing mode.
